Emily’s is a trendy bistro centered around its kitchen at the foot of Table Mountain on Kloof Street, the vibrant boulevard of Cape living. The mood is set with banter between guests at white tables and chefs behind stoves. During the summer months blankets and cushions on the lawns; tables and chairs under the tree on the patio with the scent of mint and pelargonium’s lingering. It’s informal. Barman Martin is mixing mojitos’s and cocktails between pulling draught beer.  

In the kitchen young and enthusiastic chef’s de partie Gerdus, Wayne and Juan are chopping, dicing, poaching, blanching, steaming and grilling - while Peter and Johan are keeping an encouraging eye over the creative juices. The restaurant is romantic and people friendly. Emily’s is also an intimate venue for small functions. With more than a hundred wines to choose from there are lots of moderately priced wines as well as some rarities.

 

 

Emily’s is ‘n kuierkombuis-bistro aan die voet van Tafelberg in Kloofstraat, die lewendige boulevard waar Kapenaars woon, werk en speel. Gaste sit by wit tafels en gesêls speels met sjefs by stowe. In die somer is daar op die groot grasperke komberse en kussings. Onder die boom op die patio, tafels en stoele. Die geur van ment en wilde malvas hang in die lug.  Dis informeel. In die kroeg meng Martin mojito’s en mengeldrankies.  Hy tap vatbier.   

Die chefs de partie, Gerdus, Wayne en Juan is jonk en entoesiasties  - hulle kap en sny in blokkies, posjeer, blansjeer, braai en stoom – terwyl Peter en Johan ‘n ou-hand-ogie hou. Die restaurant is mensvriendelik en romaties. Emily’s is ook ‘n intieme plek vir klein funksies. Uit meer as ‘n honderd wyne om van te kies, is daar ‘n groot klomp sakpas-bottels sowel as goedverouderde, sonderlinge vondse.
